Hi. My computer doesn't have the capacity to download music. So I aI am hoping To take you up on your offer to pay a fee for the discs and packaging. What's the procedure? Kevin
i have finished the site to host the lossless files (flac), and i am slowly uploading the compilation... i'm still on disc one. it will take another week i guess.
when i'm done i'll post the link here.
if i forget or anyone's really really eager, hastle me and i'll be reminded to do it quicker :)
I personally do not think it matters THAT much, that is ok format, and I mean, as long as you can hear it, right?
However, I have, through Soulseek, (username: boots.of.fog) the compilation in MP4 format, which, I believe, is a lossless format and the equivalent to FLAC format (lossless-wise), however, I really am not for sure about this, but I do know that its supreme to MP3 formats.
the flac files when converted and burned to cd will give you an exact digital clone of the original cds.
if you are not bothered about losing some higher frequencies (and don't notice the difference in quality) and also having 15ms gaps between tracks then you'll be fine with the mp3s.
however if you burn the mp3s to cd to audio, you are requested that you do not distribute the cd to others as this will comprimise the quality for people receiving copies of your cds further down the line.
if you want to guarantee the quality of your cds and the cds you burn for other people get the flacs. there's no reason for you not to have both for different uses. keep the mp3s on your computer to listen to in iTunes or whatever and burn the flacs to cd. :)
ok when can i get your flac copies please ive tried going on your www. but its got nothing showing yet or will i still have to wait? cheers i cant wait for the flac files.....
Hello; and thank you very much to the people who put together F.O.T.R.S.!
I have submitted an entry to discogs.com for the compilation, after spending a few days researching the precise source & spelling of all tracks. The entry's URL is: http://www.discogs.com/release/887389
Feel free to make corrections if I entered something wrong.
What software do you need to play flac files? I have an old Windows Millennium Edition computer so is there any software available which I can download for free to play these files?
Winamp (http://winamp.com/player/free.php) media player now has native FLAC support since version 5.2, I think. I would recommend that, but if you want to use Windows Media Player, try downloading Directshow Filters package (http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/), which includes FLAC.
If you want to burn FLACs on CDs, you should probably use NERO software with the official FLAC plugin: http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html
All the tracks are made or remixed by múm, by themselves or in collaborations. I've compiled a detailed description of tracks' origins on Discogs.com: http://www.discogs.com/release/887389
The tracks are in FLAC format because it is a lossless format; original CD quality of the recordings is preserved. You could find the lossy MP3 copies of this compilation on some P2P networks (soulseek, for instance), but it of course is lossy and does not sound as good as the original.
Thanks once again fragmer. I have downloaded some of the mp3 files from a different link on the previous page, but some of the files are missing. Oh well it doesn't matter anyway. I will probably download the flac files sometime in the future anyway.
